Drug Offenders Education Program (DOEP)

The Drug Offender Education Program provides a 15 hour TDHS approved education program which educates the drug offender on the dangers of drug use, abuse and associated illegal activities. An on staff certified program Administrator/Instructor oversees the applications for the program, keeps the records and teaches classes throughout the three county district. Any offender who is convicted or granted probation for a drug offense shall be ordered to complete a Drug Offender Education Program as a condition of probation.  Officers may also use the program as a sanction for offenders who have positive urinalysis screenings or admit to continue drug use. Classes are taught by a certified Drug Offender Education instructor. Contact Lavaca, Gonzales or Colorado county to inquire when the next class will be offered in that county.
The 2nd 25th Judicial District Substance Abuse Program is comprised of urine screening, assessments and education.  The department utilizes an in-house testing program and contracts with urinalysis vendors for confirmations.  DWI School, DWI Intervention and the Drug offender Education Program are taught in-house by certified staff and are described as separate programs of the department.
